Interstate and International Law Firms
Application processing time is 3-5 business days from date of receipt.
The following documents and fees must be submitted to register an
interstate/international law firm with the North Carolina State Bar:
(1) The original Interstate/International Law Firm Registration Statement (attached).
Please note that the statement must be notarized.
(2) $500 check payable to the NC State Bar.

Once your registration statement is approved, we will send you a Certification of
Registration to file with the NC Secretary of State to obtain a Certificate of Authority to
transact business in NC (if applicable). We will also send you a Certificate of
Registration to maintain for your records.

To obtain a Certificate of Authority to transact business in NC, you must submit the
following documents to the NC Secretary of State Corporations Division:
An original Certification of Registration from the NC State Bar;
The original Secretary of State’s form Application for Certificate of Authority.
