TUITION AND FEE WAIVER APPLICATION
FOR CHILDREN OR SPOUSE OF
A DISABLED/DECEASED/MIA/POW VETERAN
Eligibilitv (RCW28B.15.621) A waiver of all tuition and fees may be applied for a child and the
spouse or the domestic partner or surviving spouse or surviving domestic partner of an eligible
veteran or national guard member* who became totally disabled as a result of serving in active
federal military or naval service, or who is determined by the federal government to be a prisoner
of war or missing in action; or who lost his or her life as a result of serving in active federal
military or naval service.
Waivers may still be available to those who meet the guidelines of a Washington
State Resident and that did not serve on foreign soil or in international waters, or in support of those who
did, and/or did not receive an honorable discharge. Documentation should be submitted for eligibility
determination.
Criteria (Child) A child must be a Washington domiciliary between the ages of seventeen and
twenty-six to be eligible for the tuition waiver; marital status does not affect eligibility.
(Spouse) A surviving spouse or surviving domestic partner must be a Washington domiciliary and
has ten years from the date of death, total disability, or federal determination of prisoner of war
or missing in action status of the eligible veteran or national guard member*. The spouse is
ineligible upon remarriage or registration of a subsequent domestic partnership.
Recipients must follow the schools satisfactory academic progress policy, may attend full-time or
part-time, and may not exceed two hundred quarter credits using the waiver.
Procedures Application and required documentation for the waiver should be submitted to the
WVC Veteran Office prior to the tuition due date. The application will not be processed unless
submitted before the end of the quarter in which the waiver is being applied. Students are
responsible for any tuition and fees until eligibility is determined. A refund will be processed if
tuition and fees have been paid and eligibility is later determined.

*An eligible veteran or national guard member is a Washington domiciliary (RCW28B.15.013) who was an active or
reserve member of the United States military or naval forces, or a national guard member called to active duty, who
served in active federal service, under either Title 10 or Title 32 of the United States Code, in a war or conflict fought on
foreign soil or in international waters or in another location in support of those serving on foreign soil or in international
waters, and if discharged from service, has received an honorable discharge.
