eld? Training to become an EKG Technician might be right
choice for you. The health care industry on Long Island is one
of the fastest growing sectors, and the outlook for the EKG
Technician job growth is projected to increase faster than
average. Employment opportunities exist in doctor ofces,
hospitals, diagnostic ofces and rehabilitation centers.
EKG Technicians perform electrocardiograms which monitor
the patient’s heart and can help detect certain heart
conditions. Learn how to operate EKG equipment, gain
valuable experience running the test on people and prepare
for certication all in three months. As a certied technician,
job opportunities and salaries can increase. With further
training or education, and credentials, over time you can
advance your career in health care.
COURSE INFORMATION
Using a combination of classroom and lab learning, this
course will prepare students to sit for the EKG Technician
Certication exam. Students will be taught the basic Anatomy
and Physiology terminology associated with the heart and
circulatory systems, signs and symptoms of diseases, and
the electrophysiology/conduction system of the heart. Lab
sessions will provide hands-on practice, as well as allow
students to meet the requirement for performing EKGs on live
individuals. Students must attend all classes and complete
assignments, including all practical skills in order to sit for the
certifying exam.
Textbook, materials, and certifying exam are additional costs.
CE1 235 A1 Meets on campus classroom: Monday,
Wednesday, and Thursday 6:30pm-9:30pm for 20 sessions.
October 5 – November 19, 2020. The NAHP date will be
scheduled in the fall.

CERTIFICATION
Students successfully completing the course will earn a
Certicate of Completion from Nassau Community College. In
order to meet the eligibility requirements, as specied by the
National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), to take
the EKG Technician certication exam students must submit
the following:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Certication of Completion from NCC
• Completed NAHP application
• Exam fee
