Dear Parent/Guardian: Summer 2020
Thank you for registering your child(ren) for Milton Recreation’s Summer Day Camp! We look forward
to offering this full-day camp with super fun returning Senior Counselor Salami, and newcomers
Sesame and Mayo. We have a wide variety of activities planned to keep your child/ren busy, active and
safe this summer so they should get ready to have some fun! Enclosed please find details about Camp
as well as an Emergency Contact and Behavior Form to review, complete and bring the first day or
email/drop off beforehand. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, we understand that families may
have concerns about sending their children to Camp this summer. Please know that we in Milton
Recreation are working diligently to provide a safe, fun Camp experience full of positive memories. We
will be following the Guidelines set in place by the State of Vermont and the CDC and invite families to
review these Guidelines attached to this email. In addition, please refer to the What Parents can
Expect Child Care and School Age Camps/Care handout included in this packet for snapshot of how
Milton Recreation will be working to keep campers safe this summer. Thank you so much for your
support and understanding as we all navigate these times together and if you have any questions or
thoughts, please feel free to contact us in Milton Recreation. Look forward to seeing you soon!
Some reminders:
Location: Summer Day Camp is held in the Fieldhouse in Bombardier Park West.
Time: Camp takes place each day from 9am - 4pm. No early drop-off or late pick-up, please.
Drop-off/Pick-up: Social distancing measures will be in place. One adult per child only at Drop-
off/Pick-up. Please wear a cloth facial covering. Each camper will have a temperature check
(must be under 100.4) and will be asked if they have a new cough, shortness of breath and if
they have been in contact with anyone with a confirmed case of COVID-19. If the answer to any
question is Yes or temperature is higher than 100.4, the camper cannot stay at Camp. Please
note that Town Staff and Camp Counselors must also have a temperature check and answer the
health screening questions each day as well.
Clothing and footwear: Campers should dress comfortably and according to the weather.
Please bring/wear sneakers, a sweatshirt/ light jacket and bring a swimsuit and towel each day!
Cloth Facial Coverings: Campers and Camp Staff are recommended to wear cloth facial
coverings when in close quarters and/or when physical distancing is not possible. Please plan to
bring one, two if possible, cloth facial coverings for your camper. We have found that bandanas
and buffs work well as they can easily be “pulled up or pulled down” when needed/not needed
however, any type of cloth facial covering that works well for your child is great. Camp will have
a supply of disposable masks on hand as well.
Breakfast & Lunch: Each camper is provided a healthy breakfast and lunch daily at camp
through the Milton Summer Food Service Program! Please refer to enclosed menu (subject to
change)! Note: Campers should still bring a water bottle and snack each day and are welcome
to bring lunch if they would like.
Please apply sunscreen before coming to camp and bring sunscreen as well. It is a good idea to
check for ticks each day. Counselors will remind campers to wash/sanitize their hands, re-apply
sunscreen, check for ticks and stay hydrated throughout the day.
Please leave home: Electronic games, cell phones, excess money & other valuables. Thank you!
On Fridays, campers will enjoy a walking trip to Toby’s (formerly known as Duke’s) for
creemees!
Again, should you have any questions, be sure to let us know. We look forward to meeting your child
this summer!
Sincerely,
Kym Ben

Summer Day Camp!
CAMP INFORMATION
1. Daily drop-off/pick-up: Drop off is 9:00 a.m.. Pick up is 4:00 p.m. sharp. All campers must be
checked in by parent/guardian/caregiver each day with the Senior Camp Counselor or designee.
(No Early Drop-Off/Late Pick-Up)
2. NEW Drop-off Procedures for Summer Camp 2020: Please keep social distancing (six-feet) in
mind and please wear a cloth facial covering when bringing campers to Camp in the morning.
Each Camper may be accompanied by ONE adult only, during drop-off and pick-up. During drop-
off, each camper will have a temperature check (must be under 100.4) and will be asked if they
have a new cough, shortness of breath and if they have been in contact with anyone with a
confirmed case of COVID-19. If the answer to any question is Yes or temperature is higher than
100.4, the camper cannot stay at Camp. Please note that Town Staff and Camp Counselors must
also have a temperature check and answer the health screening questions each day as well.
3. Tardiness Fine Policy: There is a pickup fine in effect in the amount of $1.00 per minute for each
minute that a parent/guardian/caregiver is late. The fine period begins ten minutes after the pickup
time. If someone other than a parent/guardian/caregiver is late picking up the child, the
parent/guardian/caregiver is still responsible for paying the fine.
4. Pick-up Person: Any time someone other than the parent/guardian/caregiver will be picking up a
child, please alert the Senior Camp Counselor at check in with a written note, to allow the Camp
Staff to document it if that person is not on the registration form as a pickup person. Any child
who will be leaving the program without parental supervision (walkers, bike riders) must have a
written note on file with Camp Staff or it needs to be stated on the Registration Form.
5. Things to Bring:
Camp will
have a supply of disposable masks on hand as well.
b. Clothing: Campers should dress according to the weather. T-shirts and shorts are the best bet
for the average day and a sweatshirt or jacket is great for the early morning chill. Please wear
closed toed shoes, not sandals; sneakers with socks are highly recommended. Shirts and shorts
or pants are required at all times and a change of clothes is a good idea. We also ask that
campers bring a swimsuit, towel and sunscreen each day. Please be sure to label all
belongings!
c. FREE Breakfast and Lunch provided! The Milton Town School District in collaboration
with the Milton Recreation Department, Hunger Free VT and other community partners is
proud to provide FREE meals to ALL Milton children ages 18 and under, Monday-Friday
throughout the summer. We are happy to provide breakfast and lunch for each Camper once
again this summer! Please refer to the enclosed menu for more information. Campers should
bring a water bottle and a snack, however.
6. Things NOT to Bring:
a. Money (unless requested for a field trip.)
b. Candy and/or gum.
c. Toys (including skateboards). If a child should bring something from home, it must be
understood that others may play with it and we cannot guarantee its safety.
d. Cell phone, ipod, itouch, radios, any hand-held gaming devices, etc (unless requested).
7. Bike Riders: Participants who ride their bikes to Milton Recreation’s Summer Day Camp shall
not ride nor play with their bikes during Camp hours.
8. Field Trips: Any Field Trips during Summer Camp 2020 will take place by foot.
9. Lost and Found: There will be a central location for lost articles. Please check with the Camp
Counselors on a regular basis. Items that are in the lost and found will be on display the last three
days of each session for parents and participants to look through and pick-up. After the program
ends, all articles will be donated to Goodwill.
10. Bulletin Board: Located in the Camp Building. Daily and weekly events, special events,
Recreation Department flyers and other information will be posted here. It is a good idea to check
here daily for on-going and up-coming events!
11. Communication: While your child is in our Camp, we encourage parent/guardian/caregiver input
and participation. To help us interact with your child, parents/guardians/caregivers are encouraged
to share with the Senior Camp Counselor events which may be affecting the child (parents being
away, emotional upsets, recent accomplishments, etc.).
12. Medication/Health: If your child needs any medication during camp hours, please complete the
(Prescription) Medication Permission section on the Emergency Contact Form, with the times and
dosages to be given for the Camp hours. This form is enclosed in this packet and additional forms
may be obtained from the Senior Camp Counselor, Recreation Office or Town website. If a
Camper has a medical condition which may cause a cough or shortness of breath (i.e.: asthma,
seasonal allergies, etc.), please provide a note from the child’s doctor noting this. Thank you!
All medication must be kept in its original container.
13. Camp Emergency: Please make sure ALL emergency phone numbers are current as we must be
able to contact someone at ALL times. If a child suddenly develops a fever, cough and/or
shortness of breath, the camper must leave Camp as soon as possible and cannot return. If there is
an emergency and you need to contact your child or staff, please call the Milton Recreation
Department at 802-893-4922 and they will get in touch with Camp Counselors immediately. If you
cannot reach the Milton Recreation Office, please contact the Town Manager’s Office at 802-893-
6655. Also, if your child is going to be absent for the day or longer, please call the Milton
Recreation Department at 802-893-4922 and leave a message.
14. Refund Policy: Refunds will be available only until one week prior to the first day of a program,
camp or activity. A $10.00 administrative fee will be charged for processing the refund. If a
program, camp or activity is canceled by the Milton Recreation Department, a full refund will be
issued and no administrative fee will be charged. If you are dissatisfied with a program after the
first class, you must submit a written explanation to the Milton Recreation Department prior to the
second class to be eligible to receive a refund. In the event of an extended illness or injury, we
must be notified immediately and we may issue a prorated refund. A medical and/or doctor
explanation will be required.
15. Arts & Crafts: There are many “household treasures” Campers may use to create super fun
