About the Borough of Hanover
Economic
Development Corporation (HEDC)
The HEDC is a non-profit corporation,
created by the Borough of Hanover to
increase economic prosperity and promote economic development throughout
the
community.
To lead this effort, Borough Council seeks a diverse, innovative and visionary group of
business
executives, industry professionals and community leaders to serve as the
first Board of Directors for the HEDC. In
addition
to
bringing
expertise
and
guidance
to the HEDC, the Board will be
charged
with
establishing
the foundation
for the future of the Economic Development Corporation, ranging fr
om
creation of
bylaws to building partnerships with other entities that directly or
indir
ectly can
enhance economic prosperity in the Borough.
Roles
of the
HEDC
The roles of the Borough of Hanover Economic Development Corporation shall be
to:
1. Administer funding for economic development projects and manage contracts and
projects if required, and
2. Provide guidance and feedback to Borough Council regarding economic
development activities.
3. Partner with the Borough and other interested, surrounding municipal
governments and the private sector to enhance quality of life, the environment and
local economy.
Required and Preferred
Characteristics
of an HEDC Board Member
To be eligible to serve as a Board
member
of the HEDC, an individual
must:
•
Be a
resident
of the Borough of Hanover
, or
•
Reside
within 10 miles of the boundaries of the Borough of Borough of Hanover, and

Additionally, the ideal
candidate
to serve on the HEDC Board of Directors offers
a
solid mix of
experience, qualifications
and
passion
for
enhancing economic
pr
osperity
and building a thriving
business
environment for Borough of Hanover,
including:
•
Past
or current experience
as
a
business
owner,
business
administrator
and/or
familiarity in an industry/sector considered important to the future of Borough of
Hanover
•
A solid
understanding
of
budgetary
and financial activities,
including sufficient
understanding
of
business/development
finance to
participate
in
negotiation
and
award of funds for projects where/when
appropriate
•
Passion
for increasing quality of life and economic prosperity for residents,
pr
operty
owners,
business
owners, employees and other investors within Borough of Hanover
•
A strong desire to promote the development and growth of
business
in Borough
of Hanover and fully implement the vision and recommendations established by
the
Economic Development
Corporation
•
An ability to seek innovative solutions, often in collaboration with other partners and
in a manner that leverages resources
•
Innate
leadership, management
and
interpersonal
skills
•
Patience and good humor
•
Additional skill sets complementary to a holistic approach to economic
development
as
recognized in the Economic Development Strategic Plan
Board Members and Terms

The Board of Directors consists of five (5)
members
•
The Board
includes positions

President,
Vice
President, Secretary
and

Nomination
and
selection
for each
position
is
determined
by the Board of
Dir
ectors
Meetings and Time Commitment
•
The Board of Directors will typically
meet
monthly for regular
meetings
and will
occasionally conduct Special Meetings throughout the year
as
needed
•
A substantial investment of time is possible
•
New HEDC Board
members
will be
expected
to
participate
in Board
Member
orientation and
training
