Summerterm Independent Study & Internship Form
GENERAL INFORMATION
Opportunities for independent studies, special projects, and internships are available with
faculty sponsorship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. If a course you want to
take is not offered or ends up being cancelled due to low enrollment, you should consider
enrolling in an independent study. For eligibility and consideration, you must:
1. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5,
2. Find a faculty sponsor,
3. Pay tuition and registration fees or have Student Financial Services confirm your
participation in a payment plan.
4. Complete and submit this form to Brigett Ritchie in the Dean’s Office (Vilas 103).
All information, including signatures at the bottom, must be complete or your registration
may be delayed. Applications must be approved in advance of the start of Summerterm.
You cannot register for an independent study or internship through the regular
Summerterm registration process in APR 2.0.
NOTE: Students taking an independent study or participating in an internship must be
paid in full and registered in order to receive a grade and course credit.
Deadlines for Summerterm add/drop, pass/fail, and withdrawal do apply. Students will be
charged full tuition if the independent study is dropped after the add/drop period.
Special programs are not eligible for tuition remission or tuition waivers.
Only one independent study can be taken during each Summerterm session. No more than
two units of credit are to be taken each Summerterm session unless special approval is
granted.
TUITION
Undergraduate: $3,865 + $40 registration fee*
Graduate: $3,519 + $40 registration fee
*Undergraduate students that register between April 20
th
and May 22

, 2020 will receive a
$250 discount PER COURSE! This discount does NOT apply to Graduate students.
