Submittal of Metadata on Research Data Underlying the Results
Published in Peer-Reviewed Journal Articles or Conference Papers
Funded in Whole or in Part by IARPA
This template applies to “Final” Submittals of metadata on datasets underlying the
results of research papers published, or accepted for publication, in peer-reviewed
journal articles or conference papers.
This template also applies to “Interim” Submittals, which are made at the end of the
period of performance on research data not already described in previous submittals.
Interim Submittals cover datasets underlying the results of research papers that are in
progress at the end of the period of performance. When such an in-progress research
paper is subsequently accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal or
conference, awardees are expected to make Final Submittal(s) of metadata describing
the dataset(s) underlying the paper’s results.
Dataset Description
1. Type of Submittal: Final ___ Interim ___
Check “Final” if the dataset underlies the results in a research paper that has
been published, or accepted for publication, in a peer-reviewed journal or
conference.
Check “Interim” if this submittal is being made at the end of the period of
performance on behalf of a dataset underlying the results of an in-progress
research paper.
2. Sponsoring IARPA Program (required):
3. Sponsored Research Organization (required):
4. IARPA Contract Number (required):
5. Dataset Title (required):
6. Dataset Description (required): Provide a clear, concise summary of the content
of the dataset, including the type of datanumeric data, figures/plots, still images
or photos, multimedia, mixed (for example, in the case of an aggregate dataset
containing different types of data), etc. contained in the dataset.

7. Dataset Keywords (required):
8. Dataset Author(s) [Creator(s)/Principal Investigator(s)] (required):
a. Full name:
b. Affiliation:
c. Email:
d. ORCID, if available:
9. Dataset Date of Issue (required): This typically coincides with the date of last
update of the dataset or the date of publication of the associated peer-reviewed
journal article or conference paper. For final submittals, the date of issue is the
date that will be associated with the dataset when the dataset is cited or
referenced in publications. For interim submittals, the date of issue is a tentative
date, which is subject to update in a final submittal.
10. Dataset Date of Release (required for Final Submittals): Enter the date on which
the dataset is slated to become publicly accessible. This typically coincides with
the date of publication of the associated peer-reviewed journal article or
conference paper. However, the date of release may be later, for example, if the
dataset is subject to an embargo period to allow the dataset authors to publish
further results based on the dataset.
11. Associated Peer-Reviewed Publication(s) (required for Final Submittals):Enter
bibliographic information on peer-reviewed journal articles or conference papers
whose results are based on the dataset. The bibliographic information should
include the following information:
a. Title of Journal Article or Conference Paper:
b. Authors (full names and affiliations):
3
c. Journal, for journal article (full journal name, volume, issue, page
numbers, and any other pertinent publication information, to the extent
known if the article has been accepted for publication but not yet
published or scheduled for publication):
d. Conference, for conference paper (full name of conference, location of
conference, dates of conference, conference sponsor):
e. IARPA Program and Contract Number:
12. Associated In-Progress Research Paper(s) (required for Interim Submittals):
Enter the following information on in-progress research papers whose results are
based on the dataset:
a. Tentative Title of Research Paper:
b. Authors (full names and affiliations):
c. Intended journal or conference, if known:
d. IARPA Program and Contract Number:
13. Other Sponsoring Organization(s) and Contract Number(s):
14. Language:
15. Country of Publication:

Dataset Location/Technical Specifications
1. URL where dataset is posted for access (required): Provide the URL that
leads to an HTML “landing page” that provides context and usage info for the
dataset. The landing page must include a direct link to the dataset and/or its
component files.
2. Dataset Digital Object Identifier (DOI) (if already assigned):
3. Dataset File Extension ( e.g., .txt, .csv, .ps):
4. Software needed to utilize dataset (if applicable):
5. Dataset size:
Primary Point of Contact (for IARPA administrative use only)
The primary point of contact may be, but is not required to be, one of the listed
authors. That is, the listed author(s) may agree to designate another individual as
the point of contact for the dataset.
1. Name and Position (required):
2. Organization (required):
