INSTRUCTIONS FOR REQUESTING A CERTIFICATION OF
INTERSEGMENTAL GENERAL EDUCATION TRANSFER CURRICULUM (IGETC)
Information:
A. The intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) is a program whereby community college
transfer students can take courses that can be used to fulfill lower-division general education requirements in either the
CSU or UC system. Students who complete the General Education Transfer Curriculum are not required to take
additional lower-division general education courses once they transfer to the four-year institution. As a general rule,
IGETC can be certified for California community college transfers who have also completed transfer units at a CSU,
UC or independent college. Please see your counselor for specific details.
B. All coursework applicable to IGETC must be completed and certified prior to transfer in order to be accepted by CSU
or UC. Under special circumstances partial certifications are permitted. Please see your counselor for specific details.
C. Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in each course used for IGETC.

en you meet with a counselor please have course descriptions available for all courses taken at institutions located
