Application for Senior Rule
Requirements for Senior Rule:
1. Apply for, and be Tentatively admitted in a full standing or conditional status to a graduate program at Wichita State
University.
2. Meet with your undergraduate advisor and graduate coordinator/department chair to discuss the Senior Rule option and to
make a plan for completing your undergraduate degree while earning additional graduate credit. Courses completed for
graduate credit cannot be used to complete undergraduate degree requirements.
3. Receive approval from your undergraduate advisor, graduate program, and the Graduate School through submission of this
form, at least two weeks prior to the start of semester in which you wish to earn Senior Rule credit.
4. Maintain a 3.00 GPA in all courses approved for Graduate credit under the Senior Rule policy.
5. Complete your bachelor’s degree by the end of the indicated semester. Failure to complete the degree on time may result in
the graduate level courses reverting back to undergraduate credit.
6. If planning to earn Senior Rule credit for more than one semester, submit a new Senior Rule form, with all required
signatures, each semester.
7. Changes to the approved Senior Rule courses should be communicated to the Graduate School as soon as possible. You will
not receive graduate credit if we do not receive this information, as Senior Rule processes are handled manually.
Note for those receiving federal financial aid: Undergraduate students enrolled in graduate-level courses are not eligible for Title IV
(federal financial aid) funding for those graduate-level courses. Only the undergraduate courses required for the undergraduate degree
will count toward your financial aid enrollment status. If you have questions, please contact the Financial Aid office.
