The purpose of this form is to suspend the basic skills admissions requirement for candidates who are unable to complete the
exam due to COVID.
This form can only be used by applicants seeking admission to an SOE program leading to one of the following teacher or
services credentials:
• Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Special Education Teacher
• School Counseling or School Psychology Pupil Personnel Services
• Preliminary Administrative Services
This form cannot be used in lieu of a basic skills exam for the purposes of submitting an “exceptional admit” petition and/or a
graduate portfolio of evidence.
I am unable to complete the basic skills requirement due to COVID. I will make every effort to complete the
basic skills requirement prior to clinical practice. I understand that If COVID continues to restrict clinical
placement opportunities for student teachers, Brandman University may need to prioritize candidates who
have fulfilled CBEST. Candidates do not need CBEST to begin clinical practice. However, I understand that I will
not qualify for a credential from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing upon completion of my program
unless the basic skills requirement is completed.
I understand that Summer II 2021 is the last available start term and a complete application and all required
supported documentation must be submitted by 06/14/2021.
