activities, information booths, and giveaways. Bring your own picnic

Diamond Bar Night Out
Intended to strengthen neighborhood spirit and increase crime
prevention awareness, Diamond Bar Night Out is a great opportunity to
meet and talk with local public safety personnel, check out a display
of various rst responder vehicles, equipment and apparatus, and
obtain free KidPrint ngerprinting ID cards.

The Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station is launching a new program that
will expand the role of its Volunteers on Patrol (VOPs) to include wellness
checks on the community’s older residents and those with disabilities.
Caring About Neighbors (CAN) as the program is called involves VOPs
making regular phone calls and monthly visits to seniors and individuals with
disabilities, particularly those who live alone, to assure their physical, mental
and social well-being.
Participation requires completion of a form that can be obtained by visiting
the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station at 21695 E. Valley Boulevard in Walnut
or calling (909) 595-2264.
Community Presentation on
City Finances
The current state of City nances and its long-term  scal outlook will be the
topic of an important community presentation the City is planning to hold in
May, June and July.
Among other things, this presentation will cover how public funds are
distributed to pay for the various city operations, services and projects, and
why separate in-depth analyses by both the City and the California State
Auditor indicate scal challenges lie ahead for Diamond Bar. A question-and-
answer session will follow the presentation.
To give community members more opportunities to attend, City staff will
repeat the presentation on the following dates and times:

State of the City
Address 2020
Join neighbors, elected ofcials and City staff at
this year’s State of the City Address taking place
Wednesday, April 29 at the Diamond Bar Center,
located at 1600 Grand Avenue.
The Address will be delivered by Mayor Steve Tye
and provide an overview of recent accomplishments,
current challenges, and projects underway or in the
planning stages.
Admission is free and open to the public. Doors
open at 6 p.m. for light refreshments, and the
presentation begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. For more

The U.S. Census Bureau’s decennial
effort to count every individual living in
the country is ofcially underway.
If you have not completed a Census questionnaire
for your household, you should do so before the
end of the month. After April 30, the Census Bureau
will begin contacting all households who have not
responded.
If you did not receive, or misplaced, the letter that
arrived in the mail last month with instructions and a
unique identication code, you can still complete

Wildre Preparedness
Presentation
Community members are encouraged to attend
a presentation on Tuesday, April 28 from 6:30 to 7:30
p.m. at the Diamond Bar Center to learn about the
threat wildres pose to Diamond Bar, how to protect
properties from drifting embers and encroaching
re, and what to plan for and expect during an
evacuation.
Following the presentation, City staff and
personnel from Los Angeles County re and sheriff’s
departments will be available for one-on-one
conversations.

the COVID-19 outbreak and complying with the guidelines set by federal
and state health ofcials to minimize the spread of this novel coronavirus in

Transportation Services
Residents with disabilities and those 60 and older can apply online for
Diamond Ride, the City’s subsidized transportation program, to help with
local shopping and medical trips. Residents who travel using Metrolink or
Foothill Transit can apply online to get a 20 percent subsidy on transit passes.

Parks and Recreation
All City events and recreation classes planned for the remainder of April
will be canceled or rescheduled to a future date. Playgrounds, sports courts,
the skate park in Peterson Park, and the dog park at Pantera Park are
closed, however, open areas, parks trails, and outdoor restrooms are open,
and their maintenance and upkeep will continue.

Weekly fees include major and minor excursions and one
camp T-shirt. (Additional shirts may be purchased for $10 at
the time of registration). Campers must provide their own
lunch, snacks, and labeled bottled water.
Get ready for loads of fun, great memories, and exciting
trips. Every week of camp is jam-packed with cool indoor
and outdoor activities, including arts and crafts, STEM
projects, educational and athletic games, and more! Each
week features one major excursion and two minor trips.
Campers are supervised by City recreation staff with a child
to leader ratio of 10-1. Excursions are subject to change.
Registration is open and camp weeks are lling up quickly
secure your spot today!

CO-ED SOFTBALL
The Diamond Bar Softball Team is actively recruiting new players
age 50 or older. This team is part of the Inter-City Senior Co-ed
Softball League which is made up of men and women mostly in
their 60s and 70s. Teams are made up of 11-15 players, at least three
of whom must be women. The playing season runs April through
November, with games starting at 9 a.m. or 10:15 a.m. and lasting

MT. SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE CLASSES
Antonio College and are conducted at the Diamond Bar
Center, 1600 Grand Avenue, Heritage Park Community
Center, 2900 S. Brea Canyon Rd or Pantera Park Activity
Room, 738 Pantera Drive. Please note: Mt. Sac conducts
their own class registration. To inquire about details of a class
please call Older Adult Program at Mt. Sac at (909) 594-5611
ext. 4192. Registration will NOT be accepted at the Heritage
Park Community Center or the Diamond Bar Center of ces. If
you miss the pre-registration date please attend the rst class
meeting and speak to the instructor.

SENIOR COED SOFTBALL
Inter-City Senior Co-ed Softball League offers full
softball games for players age 50 or older. Diamond
Bar teams are made up of 11-15 players; men and
women mostly in their 60s and 70s. At least three players
must be women. The playing season runs April through
November, with games starting at 9 a.m. or 10:15 a.m.
and lasting approximately 75 minutes in length. Currently
teams are full and are waitlisted. Please visit

Ofces may be open later on weekdays and on weekends as
scheduled classes and rentals permits.
A signed waiver is due at the time of registration.
All class registration forms will be processed by Parks & Recreation staff,
no exceptions.
All class registration will be on a “rst-come, rst-served” basis. Waiting
lists will be established in the event that additional staff and facilities
become available.
All classes are subject to change or cancellation.
All refunds must be requested before the second scheduled class
meeting. Requests for refunds for one or two-week workshops must be
made prior to the rst class meeting.
There will be a $15 fee charged (per class) for the processing of all
refund requests. Please refer to the separate policies for Excursion, Day
Camp and Tiny Tots cancellations.
Your information and e-mail address will only be used to send
City-related communication, and will not be sold to or shared with
other entities.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Please be advised that beginning August 1 a 2.5% convenience fee will apply for all credit/debit
payments for City of Diamond Bar Parks & Recreation purchases, activity registrations, and facility
rentals. The fee will be collected by a third party vendor named Card Connect. Payments may
also be made in person at the Diamond Bar Center in cash, check, cashier’s check, or money
order without the convenience fee. Also, phone registration will no longer be accepted. For more
