Research Honors Program Application
MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN THE FIRST WEEK OF THE 8TH TRIMESTER
(DAVENPORT CAMPUS) OR 10TH QUARTER (FLORIDA AND WEST CAMPUSES).
To begin the process, you must first select your faculty mentor(s). (You may ask the Program Coordinator
or Campus Coordinator to help identify potential faculty mentors.) Once the faculty member agrees, you
may begin the application process.
Work with research faculty member on one of their on-going research projects. This could
include a methodological paper and/or a scientific poster presentation.
Write your project proposal. This double-spaced document should include:
o a description of the primary aim of the project
o the significance of the project
o a description of the research methods to be used
o a list of resources needed and potential costs associated with them (e.g. equipment, library
services)
o letter(s) of support if using resources outside mentor’s scope of approval
o a description of what role the student will take in the project
o a detailed timeline of project activities
o a deliverable (typically a publication quality manuscript)
Complete the Project Application (PA) form below.
Submit PA form to the Research Honors Program Coordinator along with:
o Project Proposal
o Copy of your Palmer transcripts
o Faculty mentor(s)’s Curriculum Vitae (CV)
The Research Honors Subcommittee and the Research Council will review the PA.
The Research Honors Program Coordinator will provide a written statement of the Research
Council’s decision and recommendations, if any, to you and your mentor(s).
Once you have all necessary approvals, you may begin your project.
