CONDITIONS OF USE / DUPLICATION
The permission to use all materials from the Special Collections and University Archives of the Raynor Memorial Libraries
is granted as long as the following conditions are met:
1. Permission must be requested in writing or electronically using the Applications for Printing, Publication or Exhibition
of Audiovisual Materials. Duplication or possession of an image, digital object or electronic file does not constitute the
permission to publish it in any form (print, website, or other venue).
2. Permission is for one-time, one-project use only, unless otherwise negotiated based on the published fee structure.
Marquette University retains whatever rights it has to all materials. Materials may not be used for any other purpose
than those listed on this application.
3. Credit must be given to the “Department of Special Collections and University Archives, Raynor Memorial Libraries,
Marquette University” and to the creator of the work, if known. For complete citation format, please refer to our
citation guide at http://www.marquette.edu/library/archives/citationguide.pdf
4. Credit must appear with the material or on a credit page that indicates the page number and position of the object on
the page. In the case of audiovisual material, appropriate citation for the Special Collections and University Archives
must appear in the credits.
5. If the material is still under copyright and the copyright is not held by Marquette University, the requestor must seek
permission from the creator of the work or from the current copyright holder. The Special Collections and University
Archives will provide the creator's name, if known.
6. Marquette University assumes no responsibility for infraction of copyright laws, invasion of privacy, or any other
improper or illegal use that may arise from reproduction of any image or use of any material. In all instances the
applicant agrees to hold the University and its agents harmless against any and all claims arising or resulting from the
use of this material and shall indemnify the University and its agents for any and all costs and damages arising or
resulting from any such unauthorized use.
7. Photographs may be cropped to suit design and layout, but may not be otherwise altered, colorized, or drawn upon
without a letter of permission in addition to a signed permission form. Duplication or possession of an image, digital
object or electronic file does not constitute the permission to alter it.
8. Raynor Memorial Libraries reserves the right to decline permission to publishers and individuals who have not
complied with these conditions.
9. In some cases, the Raynor Memorial Libraries will request a copy of the publication be donated to the Libraries.
