Program Admission Process
Admission is selective and competitive. Not all applicants who meet the minimum requirements are accepted to the program. When
selecting students for the BScN the Selective Admissions Committee considers the applicant’s academic performance plus the
Letter of Introduction.
Application Deadline: January 31 – Late applications will not be accepted
Minimum Education Requirements
(or equivalent)
mature student status
English Studies/English First Peoples 12 73% or pre 2019 Engl 12(gov’t exam incl.) 73% or equivalent or TRU ENGL 0600 or ENGL 0620
Foundations Math 12 (preferred) or Pre-Calculus 12 or TRU Math 0650 or TRU MATH 0600/0610 or equivalent with a minimum 67%.
Anatomy and Physiology 12 or TRU BIOL 0600 or equivalent with a minimum 67%
Chemistry 11 or TRU CHEM 0500 or equivalent with a minimum 67%
One other Science at the Grade 11 or 12 level or TRU BIOL 0500; CHEM 0600; PHYS 0500 or PHYS 0600; COMP 0500 or 0600 or 0650;
SINC 0500; or equivalent with a minimum 67%.
SELECTIVE ADMISSION PROCESS
Education Ranking Guidelines
Applicants with the highest Post-Secondary and High School GPA will be ranked highest. Students with Post-Secondary education
will be given priority consideration into the program. The following is a
GUIDELINE
showing how education is ranked:
1. Applicants with a completed undergraduate degree (no preference given) and a GPA 3.33+ on 5 below requirements.
2. Applicants with an incomplete degree and some post-secondary coursework and a GPA 3.33+ on 5 below requirements.
3. High school applicants with the highest GPA in stated secondary school admission requirements.
How to present a competitive application: (Based on historical data these grades are recommended but will not guarantee admission).
A strong academic history is key and you many need to improve your grades for some of the admission requirements to be
considered competitive. Using the following table, enter your current high school grades and strategically select the courses you
need to upgrade. Your goal should be approximately an A average for the 5 admission requirements. See the following example:
