Completion of Durham Tech’s Associate in Applied Science degree in Opticianry satisfies the
educational requirements necessary to qualify for the licensing examination given by the North Carolina
State Board of Opticians.
Also, graduates should qualify to take certification examinations given by the American Board of
Opticianry and the National Contact Lens Examiners, as well as other state licensing boards. Currently
