Precision Agriculture Cost-Share
Application
Participation in this project will be capped at $300,000 over five years.
Veris Soil Mapping:
Soil mapping
allows growers to create specific management zones based upon soil variation across their fields. Cost share is
of the cost up to $10/acre for a one-time mapping.
:
Aerial imagery allows growers to pinpoint areas of difficulty within their management zones, and this
information can be used
by growers to tailor nutrient approaches to specific areas in the field. Cost
-share is limited to 75% of the cost up to
$5/acre/image, and 5 images/field /year
.
:
Grid soil sampling allows growers to determine th
e specific nutrient requirements in scientifically delineated zones in their
an important tool in effective nutrient management. This practice advances the “Four R’s” which is placing the
right nutrients in the right place at the right time.
Cost-share is limited to 75% up to $7/acre/year. Straight grids shall be no
larger than 10 acres.
Plant Tissue Sampling
:
Plant tissue sampling allows growers to monitor plant nutrient levels
as a tool in managing nutrient application. This practice
es the “Four R’s” which is placing the right nutrients in the right place at the right time. Cost-share is limited to 75% up
to $20/sample and for one sample/5 acres. These samples must be georeferenced.
Variable Rate Nutr
ient Application:
Variable rate nutrient application assists growers in applying nutrients at a variable rate based upon specific soil nutrient levels
resulting in decreased cost and increased plant growth efficiency.
This practice advances the “Four R’s” which is placing the
of nutrients in the right place at the right time. This service is provided to allow growers to utilize this technology
without the need to purchase
variable rate equipment. Cost-share is limited to 75% up to $7/acre/application for 2
applications/year.
Side Dressing Equipment (Liquid or Dry)
:
Side dressing equipment allows growers to apply nutrients in furrow or banded along side the plant row. This practice results in
lower total nutrients being applied and significantly reduces nutrient losses due to
leaching. This practice advances one of the
“Four R’s” which is placing nutrients in the right place. Cost share is limited to 75% up to $50,000. With prior approval, the cost
share maximum on this can be increased on a case
-by-case basis depending on the need.
:
rate irrigation allows producers to not only tailor irrigation in a particular field, but also to within individual zones in
the
field, resulting in a more efficient use of water. Cost
-share is limited to 75% up to a maximum of $50,000/system.
