In-Ground Pool Permit Process
1. The In-Ground Pool Permit Application must be fully completed, including an estimated valuation of
the project. Pool contractors are not required to be registered with the city, however electrical and
plumbing contractors must be registered with the City.
2. A site plan must be submitted with the permit application.
3. Payment for applicable fees is received by the City.
4. City staff process the application:
o Payment is processed.
o Receipt is generated.
o Copy of application and any supporting documentation is sent to Bureau Veritas.
o Application is marked as “pending plan review” and filed.
5. After site plans are approved by Bureau Veritas, permit is issued and work can begin.
6. Contractor or homeowner (if applicable) must contact Bureau Veritas at 877-837-8775 to request
inspections. In-ground pool inspections include foundation, electrical, pool belly bond, and final. For
questions regarding inspections or site plans, please contact Bureau Veritas at 817-335-8111.
Commercial pools may require a health inspection before operation can begin.
7. After final inspections are passed, application is marked as complete, recorded, and filed.
Who needs an In-Ground Pool Permit?
Anyone whose property resides within the City of Aubrey and who is constructing an in-ground pool. Those
whose property resides in the extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) do not have to apply for a permit with the City
of Aubrey. However, Denton County may require permits or inspections. The number for the Denton County
planning department is 940-349-2990.
*Property owners who qualify for and claim a homestead exemption may perform the work themselves in lieu
of a contractor. In such cases, a permit and inspections are still required.
