REQUIRED COURSE SEQUENCING IN BA SOCIAL WORK MAJOR

Directions: Students who have not fully met the eligibility/prerequisite criteria for enrollment in a course in the social work major
may petition to be allowed to take the course (including the field internship). Please fill out all three sections
as fully as possible, sign and date the petition and submit it to the BA Coordinator along with a current
DARS report.
To enroll in SWrk 123, 135, 160 & 170 upper division major courses, criteria are:
GPA: minimum of 2.3
Completion of all lower division GE
Completion of SWRK 20 or equivalent with a grade of C or higher
To enroll in SWRK 161:
Completion of SWRK 160, 123 & 135 with a grade of C or higher
To enroll in the first semester of field internship (SWrk 181), the criteria are:
GPA: overall of 2.0
Completion of SWRK 20, 123, 135, 136, 160 and 161 with a grade of C or higher
Completion of the upper division writing skills requirement
Completion of 90 units/senior standing
To enroll in the second semester of field internship, (SWrk 182), the criteria are:
Completion of SWRK 180 with a grade of C or higher
Completion of SWRK 181 with a grade of CR.
GPA: overall of 2.0
