Petition for Credit
Advanced Placement, College Level Examination Program, and ACT/SAT Exams
Petition for Credit must be submitted to a WCJC Testing Center for approval. WCJC must have official score
reports on file; visit the College Board website for instructions on ordering official score reports. Approval of
credit toward WCJC coursework does not guarantee approval for credit/transferability to a four-year institution.
Credit for select courses may be approved based on the following:
• Prior to awarding credit hours based on AP, CLEP, or ACT/SAT examination scores, a student must
complete an equivalent number of credit hours at WCJC.
• Credit by examination may be used to award a maximum of 16 credit hours of academic transfer
coursework and a maximum of 22 credit hours of vocational coursework.
• Credit may not be awarded for a course in which the student is currently enrolled or has been enrolled
past the census date of a given semester, or in a discipline in which the student has previously earned
credit for a more advanced course.
Credit will be awarded for AP or CLEP examinations based on the minimum score requirements and course
equivalencies listed in the WCJC College Catalog. Credit for retired examinations will be determined based on
the equivalencies listed in the WCJC College Catalog for the year in which the student took the exam.
A grade of “Passing” (“P”) will be awarded for credits awarded based on eligible AP and CLEP Examinations.
