Are you a first-year or a transfer student?
Apply as a first year student if:
o The applicant has graduated high school in the same calendar year as their entry term to the University or
o The applicant has completed no other post-high school credit
An applicant who has never attended college after high school is considered freshman, no matter how long ago they
may have attend high school
Apply as a transfer student if:
o An applicant has taken college credit during or after the fall term following high school graduation.
An applicant who graduates from high school in the spring and takes college course during the summer before
enrolling at UMC in the fall will be considered freshman, since they are entering in the same year as their high school
graduation

Students who have limited financial resources and meet eligibility criteria set forth by the National Association for College Admission Counseling
(NACAC) will have their application fee waived. Applicants must complete all steps and have the waiver signed by an authorized official before
forwarding to our office.
UMN Crookston will accept letters in support (on official letterhead) of an application fee waiver from high school officials (counselors, principals, etc.) and representatives of College
Bound Organizations (AVID, TRiO, etc.).
Application fee waivers can be mailed or emailed. Please include the student's full legal name and date of birth (when possible).
UMN Crookston waives application fee for applicants actively serving in over seas military.
UMN Crookston waives application fee for applicants who were degree seeking students and are transferring from the Duluth, Morris, Rochester, or Twin Cities campus.
UMN Crookston does not waive the application fee for International applicants.
UMN Crookston does not waive the application fee during Minnesota College Knowledge Month.
UMN Crookston does not accept cash as application payment.
