PRIORITIES
1. Priority for usage of facilities and equipment will be UH Hilo programs, activities, meetings, and functions that support the mission of the Pacific Islander Student
Center (PISC). The mission of the PISC is to provide a space in which Pacific Islander students can gather, meet, and study, as well as for others (students,
faculty and staff) to learn about the region. Learning about the region includes holding events such as presentations, workshops, film showings, lectures and
meetings on Pacific-related themes and topics
.
2. Pr
iority for usage of facilities and equipment will be on a first-co
me, first-served basis, and is subject to the needs of existing PISC programs, activities, and
services.
3. Consideration for usage of facilities and equipment by UH Hilo-affiliated student organizations requires the approval of the advisor or responsible faculty/staff
member.
4. Consideration for usage of facilities and equipment will be given to programs and organizations without UH Hilo affiliation only with the sponsorship of the PISC.
LIMITATIONS
1. The use of the PISC will not be a substitute for existing UH Hilo facilities available for the purposes of programs, meetings, lectures, classes, events, etc.
2. PISC equipment may not be used, borrowed, or taken outside of the PISC.
REQUEST PROCEDURES
1. A Facility & Equipment Request Use Form must be submitted a minimum of two weeks in advance of its scheduled use. Request forms received less than two
weeks in advance of scheduled use may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
2. Requesters should not assume that a request has been approved until they are notified in writing (which includes email).
3. The PISC reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or alter requests as necessary.
FACILITY SET-UP AND CLEAN-UP
1. Changes in the physical set-up of the facility including moving existing furniture or hanging signs or decorations must be noted on the Facility Request Form
and
must be approved in advance.
2. Th
e
facility must be restored to its original condition. If users are permitted to use the kitchen, the kitchen facility must be clean and no food may be stored in the
refrigerator/freezer. Users will be responsible for any and all damages.
3. Under no circumstances can the desktop computers in the PISC and the tables on which they are placed be moved.
FOOD SERVICE
1. If food/refreshments are served, the requestor is responsible for adhering to UH Hilo food policies. Contact University Dining Services for more information.

EQUIPMENT RESPONSIBILITY
1. Users will be responsible for the proper care and handling of equipment.
2. Users will be responsible for any and all damages or theft of equipment and will be charged for repairs and/or replacement.
TRAINING & ON-SITE SUPPORT
1. Requestors must agree to provide their own set-up and support for all equipment requests. The PISC will attempt to have a student employee on-site during a
scheduled event, but there is no guarantee that a student employee will be available and/or knowledgeable about the proper use of the available equipment.
Equipment requests that require on-site support may be assessed a charge.
2. Training on the proper use of equipment is available and should be arranged a minimum of two weeks in advance of use to ensure staff is available to provide this
service.
