PA APPLICATION CHECKLIST
Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution
Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
Completed and Verified application to Gardner-Webb through CASPA
Supplemental application and fee (Instructions for completion will be emailed)
US Citizen or Permanent Resident Status
Pre-Requisite Coursework (from U.S. regionally accredited institution)
Human Anatomy and Physiology with labs two semesters or equivalent
Anatomy and Physiology I and II with labs -OR-
Anatomy with lab and Physiology with lab
General Biology with lab one semester or equivalent
Additional Biology with lab one semester or equivalent
Microbiology with lab one semester or equivalent
General Chemistry with lab one semester or equivalent
Additional Chemistry with lab one semester or equivalent
Organic Chemistry with lab one semester or equivalent
Statistics (business statistics not accepted) one course
Psychology (General, Abnormal or Developmental) one course
Medical Terminology (certificate course acceptable) one course
Cumulative prerequisite GPA of 3.0. Each course must have a B- or higher.
With the exception of Medical Terminology, survey courses do not meet the prerequisite requirements
(usually a 100 or 101 class).
We do not accept online lab courses.
Health Care Experience
A minimum of 1000 direct patient contact hours are required.
The program places importance on health care familiarity and evaluates the quality and quantity of an
applicant’s experience with direct “hands-on” patient health care. Patient care experience will be evaluated
based on the type of experience and the number of hours in a clinical setting.
Additional Requirements
Three Letters of Recommendation
At least one letter must come from an advanced care practitioner or physician (PA, NP, MD, or DO).
In some instances TOEFL is required for applicants whose primary language is not English.
Internet-based: Score of 100 with a minimum score of 20 on each section.
Paper-based: A total score of 600 with a score of 55 on the Listening Comprehension.
Computer-based: A total score of 250.
A level 112 from the ELS Language Centers or other recognized evidence may be considered satisfactory,
pending the Admissions Committee approval.
