FENCE AND WALL INSTRUCTION PACKET
Please include the following documents with the Fence/Wall Permit Application:
Site Plan: The Applicant must provide a Site Plan indicating the location of the Fence/Wall in
relation to property lines and existing structures.

Fence Requirements:
Physical Characteristic Requirements: Fences and
Walls must meet specified physical standards
_ Prohibited materials, comprised of the
following, may not be used: chain link (front
yard only), metals, razor wire, barb wire,
electric, cinder block, materials not
specifically designed to be used as a fence
_ Fence materials must be resistant to the
elements
_ All fences/walls erected adjacent to public
ROW must have the finished side facing
outward
Size Standards: Proposed Fence or Wall must
adhere to size restrictions
_ Maximum Height:
Front Yards: 48 inches
Overall Height: Shall not exceed seven (7) feet without additional review
Domain Restrictions:
_ Fences/walls on property lines must be constructed on the Applicant’s side of the line
_ Fences shall remain a minimum of twelve (12) inches from the closest sidewalk edge
Fences/walls installed in or through a stormwater detention basin, retention pond, drainage
easement, or Floodplain require a Floodplain Development Permit and are subject to additional
design requirements
