OSHER REENTRY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Purpose:
The purpose of the Osher Reentry Scholarship Program is to provide
scholarships for tuition costs to "reentry" students. "Reentry" students are
individuals approximately betw een the ages of 25 -50 whose collegiate studies at
a four-year campus were interrupted (for at least 5 years) by circumstances
beyond their control and who are resuming their university studies.
Eligibility Criteria:
Undergraduate student pursuing a first bachelor's degree (students who
have already earned a bachelor's degree are not eligible) in any field of
study
Approximately 25-50 years old
Must have previously enrolled at a four -year institution
Must also have experienced a gap of at least 5 years in t heir education at
a four-year institution
Must demonstrate financial need

Amount of Scholarship:
The maximum amount of the scholarship is normally
$2,000 per year.
Application Procedures:
Complete the application form on the back of this page.
Write a short essay (3-5 paragraphs) that provides the following
information:
1) A brief history of your collegiate studies, including a description of the
circumstances that caused you to interrupt your studies,
2) Your educational and career plans and goals, and
3) How the Osher Reentry Scholarship will help you achieve your goals.
The essay must be attached wi th the application form on a separate
sheet of paper.
Complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) if you have
not done so yet. FAFSAs are available at the Financial Aid Office or apply
online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Submit the application and the essay to the UH Hilo Financial Aid Office

Application Deadline:
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all
funds have been awarded.
