Any personal data supplied on this form, or in connection
with this application, will be used by Defra to contact you
in connection with this application. We may also use the
data to keep you informed of developments relating to
the import of organic produce.
The data provided on the application form will be
retained by Defra on a database containing information
of applications to import organic produce. Port Health
Authority or Local Authority officials, Defra’s authorised
agents for endorsing the Certificate of Inspection
for organic produce from third countries relating to
Commission Regulation (EC) 1788/2001, have read
only access to this database. They may have access to
any or all of the information, including personal data,
that you provide on your application form and in associated
paperwork. They may use the information to notify you of
any issues relating to the clearance of your consignment.
In the event of the Port Health Authority, Local Authority
or Defra suspecting breaches in the organic integrity
or food safety of a consignment, they may use any
data supplied as part of your application to assist in
any investigation, or provide the information to other
enforcement authorities.
In addition to the database held by defra, the European
Commission will hold any or all of the information you
provide on a database. The competent authority (i.e.
Defra and its equivalent in other Member States) and
other authorised agents (enforcement authorities) in each
Member State ill have access to this database.
Defra may use the data related to this application
and/or obtain information, including personal data,
from the Port Health Authority or Local Authority relating
to consignments entering the UK, for the purposes of
statistical analysis and research.
Information (including personal data) may also be
released on request, including under the Environmental
Information Regulations, the Code of Practice on Access to
Government Information and the Freedom of Information
Act 2000.
Defra or its appointed agents may use the name, address
and other details on your application form to contact you
in connection with occasional customer research aimed at
improving the services that Defra provides to you.
