HONORS PROGRAM SCHOLARS CONTRACT
The purpose of the Honors Program at Oral Roberts University is to attract and retain
academically gifted students and provide them with an outstanding educational experience.
Utilizing ORU’s concept of Whole Person Education, the Honors Program transcends both the
rigor and scope of the general curriculum and integrates the ethical responsibilities of using
God’s intellectual gifts for the healing of humanity. Students are encouraged to be servant-
leaders both on and o campus. Accordingly, all Honors Program students are required to abide
by the following requirements:
Remain aware of Honors Program information by checking the Honors Program website and
their e-mail and Facebook.
Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA.*
Complete at least 24 hours of honors course credit (normally three-six honors credits per
year); these courses include the Honors Sections and Fellows Seminars.
Complete any further departmental requirements as stated on the Honors Program website.
Complete the HONR 100 (Freshman Honors Seminar) course during their rst year at ORU.
Maintain active status in the Honors Student Organization (details given in HONR 100).
Attend at least two honors events (one social and one Research Extravaganza) per semester.
Sign the “Renewal to Stay in the Honors Program form every year in order to remain active
in the Honors Program.
Fulll at least ve hours of service each semester through the Honors Program, service
learning, Gamma Beta Phi, ORU Community Outreach, church, missions or any other
organization of the student’s choosing.
Complete an Honors Senior Paper or Project.
Inform the Honors Program Director whenever their address (including phone number and
e-mail) or academic major changes.
Seek to build up the Honors Program constructively through helpful feedback, etc.
Attend class regularly unless a legitimate excuse is given.
Maintain academic integrity, including no plagiarism.
In general, esteem others more highly than themselves (Philippians 2:3-4).

*If an honors student’s GPA falls below 3.5, he or she will be placed on probation for a maximum of two semesters. If
the GPA is still below 3.5 at that point, the student will be dismissed from the program until they are eligible again.
