HONORS CONTRACT FOR A REGULAR COURSE AT ORU
An honors student must have the professors permission and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 in order to be eligible for honors
work in a regular course. This form must be completed, signed by the student, the professor and an Honors Program Director and
submitted to the Honors Program oce (GC 5C06) no later than two weeks after the semester begins. Copies should be retained
by all parties.
Honors work normally involves independent research and/or writing in addition to, or instead of, the normal requirements of the
course. Specic expectations are exible but we recommend the following:
At least two conferences between student and professor to plan and discuss the honors work
Encouragement for the student to examine the course content more deeply and independently than might otherwise be
required, not merely read or write more
Opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired in the course in ways that might not be required of other students (e.g. by
evaluating secondary literature or by laboratory work)
Opportunity to share the results with the class (e.g. by presentation or web posting)
