ALUMNI AWARD CATEGORIES
Outstanding Alumni Award
This award is the highest honor awarded to a prominent alumni bestowed on an alumnus/alumna by the Avila Alumni
Association. This award is given to alumni who have achieved distinction through exceptional contributions in their
professional or personal lives that have a greater impact on society. This award is intended to recognize both longevity
and consistency of accomplishments over one’s lifetime.
Alumni Achievement Award
This award honors alumni with records of special contributions or exceptional service to the Avila community.
Alumni Service Award
Awarded to individuals who have extended outstanding voluntary service to the dear neighbor without distinction.
Recent Alumni Award
This award honors alumni who graduated 10 years ago or less with accomplishments of significant importance at an
early stage in their career or who has demonstrated leadership by using his or her education to enrich the lives of others
and who exemplifies the principles and ideals of Avila University.
Graduate Alumni Award
This award is given to an alumnus/alumna of any of Avila’s graduate programs who exemplifies service, leadership and
professionalism in their chosen field.
Honorary Alumnus
Awarded to an individual who has not graduated from Avila, but has served the university and/or the alumni association
in a distinguished manner.
Academic Department Alumni Award
Awarded to an alumnus of a program who demonstrates the values of the college and Avila University in his or her
career path and community leadership. Awards will be given for the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, the College
of Professional Studies and the College of Science & Health.
Lifetime Board Member Award
Life membership status may be conferred to former alumni board members in recognition of outstanding and
continuing service to the board and the association. Such lifetime member is an ex-officio member of the board without
voting privileges. A minimum of one year must lapse before a member can be considered for this recognition.
