Student: Please initial next to each statement to confirm your understanding of the Concordia University/
Northwestern Health Sciences University articulation and how it influences your education.
Acronyms:
CSP=Concordia University, St. Paul
MSES=Master of Science in Exercise Science
NWHSU=Northwestern Health Sciences University
DCP=Doctor of Chiropractic Program
Important Information:
_____ 1. I understand this is considered an articulation agreement, with CSP accepting NWHSU
DCP courses into their MSES program. I am not required to complete both programs.
Each program will continue to run separately if I wish to pursue either the DCP program
or the MSES program individually. If I do not meet the requirements for one of the
programs, I will need to work with academic advising to determine my academic plan.
_____ 2. I understand DCP courses will be used to meet 5 courses (15 total credits) within the
MSES program. The specific MSES courses and the DCP equivalencies are listed in the
table below.
CSP MSES Courses (credits are
listed in parentheses)
NWHSU DCP Equivalencies (You must earn a “B”
grade or higher in these NWHSU DCP courses) (credits
are listed in parentheses)
KHS570 Ethics and Policy in Sport
and Exercise Science (3)
PnP 5 (ID: 24760) (1)
Legal Aspects of Chiropractic Health Care (ID: 47190)
(2)
Managing Finances (ID: 23515) (1)

Revised 2020
_____ 3. I understand a failure to complete the DCP courses above with a minimum “B” grade
or higher will require me to take additional MSES courses to earn the MSES degree. For
example, KHS570 requires students to complete PnP 5, Legal Aspects of Chiropractic
Health, and Managing Finances, each course with a B grade or higher. E.g. If I earn a B
grade in PnP 5, an A grade in Legal Aspects of Chiropractic Health, and a C grade in
Managing Finances, the requirement for KHS570 will not be met since all courses
require the B grade or higher.
_____ 4. In #3 above, certain MSES courses require a “package” of NWHSU DCP courses. I
understand that if I do not have a B grade or higher in each course, I have the ability to
submit a petition to the university to accept a C grade in combination with other grades to
meet the requirements for specific MSES courses. No D grades will be considered.
Petitions are not automatically approved and will be subject to review by the petition
committee. I should speak with my CSP Admissions Counselor about the petition
process. Note: Petitions will only be considered for grades earned in 2016 or earlier.
Grades earned in 2017 and beyond should be a B grade or higher.
_____ 5. Because of this articulation agreement, I understand 6 MSES courses will be required
to earn the MSES degree: 1) KHS513 Scientific Principles of Strength and Conditioning,
2) KHS 610 Research Methods, 3) KHS595 Clinical Exercise Assessment, 4) KHS615
Exercise Prescription, 5) KHS600 Exercise Physiology, and 6) KHS620 Master’s
Capstone.
_____ 6. I understand KHS595 Clinical Exercise Assessment and KHS615 Exercise
Prescription will be used to complete 3 elective credits within the DCP program as long
as a “C” grade or higher is earned in each course. KHS595 and KHS615 are each 3
credits within the CSP MSES program; however, they will transfer back into the
NWHSU DCP program as 1.5 credits each (3 credits total). If I earn a D in KHS595 and a

C in KHS615, only 1.5 elective credits will be met (1.5 credits for KHS615, 0 credits for
KHS595).
_____ 7. I understand my financial aid status will be affected by pursuing the DCP and MSES
program:
Consortium Agreement: Within the semester(s) that I take KHS595 Clinical Exercise
Assessment and KHS615 Exercise Prescription, I will be eligible to complete a
consortium agreement between NWHSU and CSP. This consortium agreement can
only be used for these two courses because KHS595 and KHS615 can count toward
my DCP program. Since my DCP program is considered my primary program (I am
taking most of my credits in that program), credits that do not count toward the DCP
program are not eligible for a consortium agreement. I understand:
I must complete the consortium agreement in order to increase my financial aid
budget to include the tuition and fees for KHS595 and KHS615. Once approved,
this consortium agreement may lead to a larger refund for me if I borrow the
additional cost to pay for these courses. If I receive a refund in this manner, I can
use it to pay CSP directly for the KHS595 and KHS615 tuition.
I am responsible for paying CSP myself for any tuition and fees owed to the
school by the published tuition deadline date for the term. NWHSU will not
provide any money to CSP; it is my responsibility to pay CSP.
I am responsible for initiating a consortium agreement with the NWHSU financial
aid office.
NWHSU will credit all financial aid to my NWHSU’s charges after the 10th
business day of the term and that any financial aid that exceeds the charges will
be available to pay for these courses.
I must provide the NWHSU registrar with a copy of an official transcript showing
the earned grades for these courses at the end of the term.
Payment: I understand the MSES coursework can be paid by me to CSP using the
following options: a) The $1,000 partner scholarship awarded to me as a NWHSU
student (this will be divided over three semesters), b) with refund money I receive
from NWHSU (this refund can result from my DCP financial aid alone and/or from
the consortium agreement for KHS595/KHS615), and c) private loans, other private
funding, or other non-federal funding.
Timeline: I understand it is in my best financial interest to complete the MSES
program by the end of my DCP program. Once I graduate from the DCP program, I
will not be able to take out any federal loans for the MSES program because I may
have already met my maximum allowance through my DCP program.
_____ 8. I understand I must meet all admissions requirements of CSP to be accepted into the
MSES program. These include a bachelor’s degree, a 3.0 GPA from my undergraduate
degree (not DCP coursework) as documented by my official bachelor’s degree
Revised 2020
transcripts, an application, an unofficial transcript from NWHSU (it documents my
current performance and my current trimester), and submission of this contract with all
necessary signatures. See item 9 for further consideration.
_____ 9. I understand submission of this contract to CSP is required because it will provide
proof to MSES admissions representatives that two NWHSU DCP faculty believe I have
the academic ability to be successful in taking both the DCP and MSES programs
simultaneously. The faculty signatures (signatures are noted below) should be obtained
after I have reviewed the remainder of this student contract with the NWHSU academic
advisor.
_____ 10. I understand if I do not meet CSP admissions criteria, I will be required to go to the
Graduate Admissions Petition Committee. At the direction of CSP admissions
counselors, additional documentation will need to be provided by the student to prove
they will be successful in the MSES program. For example, a student’s undergraduate
GPA might be 2.7, yet they may be earning a 3.5 in the DCP curriculum. This additional
documentation can prove to the committee that the student is a qualified candidate for the
MSES program.
_____ 11. I understand I must demonstrate academic success and have completed all
coursework through Trimester 5 in the DCP program to be eligible to begin the MSES
program. This means I could begin the MSES program in Trimester 6 at the earliest.
_____ 12. I understand I need to maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA throughout my time in the
MSES program in order to earn the degree. Additional graduation requirements include
completion of all coursework, either through CSP or through DCP transfer courses
(Reminder: I need to earn a “B” grade or higher for the transfer courses).
_____ 13. I understand the optimal time to provide my official NWHSU DCP transcript to CSP
is upon completion of the NWHSU transfer courses listed in the chart above. All courses
and “B” or higher grades must be documented in the official transcript in order for the
CSP registrar to list the MSES course as having been met. Of note, my official NWHSU
transcript is not required for admission to the MSES program; only my bachelor’s degree
transcript must be provided initially along with my unofficial NWHSU transcript. I can
wait to submit the official NWHSU transcript until all DCP transfer courses have been
taken and documented on my transcript.
_____ 14. I understand I can contact NWHSU or CSP representatives at any time to discuss any
questions about the articulation and my remaining academic requirements.
