Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship

Graduate Program Coordinators may nominate students for a Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship. The Awards Committee of
FGSR will review applications and decide on the distribution of awards.
Instructions:
Contact student to confirm their interest and commitment to research in one of the priority sectors (listed below)
Complete Nomination Form (sections 1 to 5)
Attach Student Confirmation Form
Attach a one page description of the student’s research project
ATTACH OFFICIAL UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS FROM ALL UNIVERSITIES ATTENDED. FGSR will accept an unofficial SMU
transcript if it is printed by the Graduate Program Coordinator.
Deadline: Students being nominated must submit their supporting documents to their Graduate Program Coordinator by April 10.
Complete nominations from the Graduate Program Coordinators for new or continuing students must be submitted to the FGSR
office by May 1 each year.

5. Complete the checklist to confirm the student’s eligibility for the award
Incoming students must have:
GPA of 3.7 or above (on 4.3 scale) in last 60 credit hours (i.e., 20 one semester courses)
applied for full time status
Current students must:
have passed all graduate courses
have registered full time and registered each semester
be within their minimum time to completion in September of the next academic year
have a GPA of 3.7 or above (on 4.3 scale) in last 60 credit hours (i.e., 20 one semester courses)
have not previously received the NSGS award for 2 years (Masters) or 4 years (PhD)
