CSU Channel Islands University Park
Temporary Model Glider Area
The CSU Channel Islands University Park
is an education and recreation area
owned and operated by California State
University Channel Islands (CI). As an
extension of the academic campus, the
Park embraces the mission, values and
objectives of CI. The purpose of the Park
is to provide educational and
recreational opportunities open to all
through habitat restoration activities,
maintenance of open spaces, and
development of ecological, cultural, and
recreational facilities and programs.
Rules and
Regulations
1. The operation of any form of model
aircraft
is
prohibited on University
property in any
area(s)
other than those
designated for such
use.
2. The park
is
limited to model gliders
only in
the designated area.
Operators are to
control gliders from
designated
flight lines
in accordance with selected
flight
patterns.
The fly zones, locations and hours of
the
designated flying fields are listed on this
brochure.
3. All persons operating model gliders
while on University Park
property
must
have valid University Model Glider
Permit in their
possession.

4. Use of designated areas shall be on a
first-come,
first-served basis, except
when exclusive
use approval
has been
obtained from the University through the
Events & Facilities Committee
.
5. G liders shall be limited t
o a
weight of 2lbs. or less.
6. To reserve a frequency, operators
should
affix current University permits or pins
with
their
names to the control stand to
indicate
which
radio bands are being
used when flying.
All
other radios must
be turned off when not in
use.
7. Operators are to yield the right-of-way
to
landing aircraft or to aircraft on the
runway
that
have just
landed.
8. Transmitters should only be operated
while
persons are flying model aircraft.
Operators
should double check other
transmitters to
make
sure no one is
flying on the same f
requency.
