Library Re-opening Phase 3
In our plan to reintroduce services in stages, the Gustavus Public Library will be opening further starting Monday
December 14, 2020. See the attached diagram for full library re-opening phases.
The library will open at a reduced capacity (15 people) Monday- Friday from 9:30am 1:00pm.
o Wednesdays are for those who consider themselves High Risk.
o Anyone under the age of 12 will need to be accompanied by a guardian.
Curbside services will continue to be available Monday through Friday 1:30-4:30.
Appointments will be available upon request for those who cannot or prefer not to utilize our limited capacity
hours. Appointment times are dependent on staff availability. Contact Jen Gardner to schedule:
jen.gardner@gustavus.lib.ak.us or (907) 697-2350.
Precautions
Masks are required for patrons, staff, and volunteers while in the library building per Resolution CY20-22.
Patrons are encouraged to utilize the provided thermometer and hand sanitizer before entering, and to use
provided sanitizer wipes during their visit on surfaces they touch.
No group activities (meetings, classes, events, etc.) during this phase.
Library Closures
If a COVID positive test result(s) is announced in Gustavus, the library will immediately close for 72 consecutive
hours. After 72 hours, the library will assess reopening based on the direction of the Mayor and/or Incident
Commander.
If a library patron, staff member, or volunteer discloses having COVID-like symptoms, the library will
immediately close for 72 consecutive hours and assess reopening based on the direction of the Mayor and/or
Incident Commander.
The library may close at any time at staff discretion or under direction of the Mayor and/or Incident
Commander.
If you have library needs which are not being met, please let us know. We will work within our current guidelines and
capabilities to assist you. If we cannot meet your requests at this time, we will aim to include them in our next phase of
re-opening.
We have made the decision to open further due to the minimal number of cases in Gustavus, made possible by social
distancing, mask wearing, and healthy habits. Please remain vigilant in these times. The library is prepared to reduce
services if the health, safely, and well-being of our staff members, volunteers, and/or community members are at risk.
To stay open, we need to stay safe.
