The Board of Governors created Lawyer to Lawyer in 1985 to address
concerns that the rapid growth and diversification of OSB membership had led
to a breakdown of informal lawyer mentoring networks. The goal of the pro-
gram is to provide access to experienced lawyers who are willing to share
experience and offer advice to other bar members.
The need for Lawyer to Lawyer services has continued to grow, and the
demands on the program have as well. To ensure that no single panelist is
overburdened, we are hoping to increase our referral base and ask that you
consider registering as a Resource Lawyer.
Resource Lawyers with experience to share are listed according to areas of
expertise and geographic location. Any lawyer can call to request the names
and numbers of three Resource Lawyers registered in a particular area.
Names are given out in rotation so that referrals are evenly distributed.
Resource Lawyers should expect to spend approximately 10 to 15 minutes on
each phone consultation, and one to two hours for consultations over lunch
(the Take Me to Lunch panel).
Even if you are a long-time Resource Lawyer, please take a few moments
to review the enclosed form, consider signing-up for some of the more recent
sub-panel additions, and otherwise update your expertise profile. Recent sub-
panel additions include: White Collar Crime and Drugs (Criminal Law), ADA
(Labor & Employment), Homeowner’s Associations (Real Property), Medicaid
Trusts (Wills & Trusts/Probate), Admiralty and HIPAA (Other Special Areas
panel).
To register as a Resource Lawyer, please complete and return the enclosed
registration form. Once you are registered with the program, you can change
your listings at any time. If you have questions or would like more informa-
tion on any of these programs, please call the OSB Referral & Information
Services staff at (503) 620-0222 ext.408.
Hard work, tenacity, ashes of brilliance and the occasional misstep.
This, probably more than law school, is how you gained experience
and knowledge in the practice of law. Right now there are new,
green lawyers who could benet from your wealth of experience.
Consider sharing your experience through the bar’s Lawyer To Lawyer program.

II. Program Information
Attorneys who have claimed exemption from the PLF should be careful not to engage in any acts of private
practice while participating in these programs. This form may be used to register for any of the following con-
sulting programs:
A. Lawyer to Lawyer Program
This program connects lawyers working in unfamiliar practice areas with experienced lawyers
willing to offer informal advice over the phone. Resource Lawyers with experience to share are
listed according to areas of expertise and geographic location.
B. Take Me To Lunch Panel
An expanded version of the Lawyer to Lawyer program, this option accommodates members
who seek more guidance than is possible in a brief telephone consultation. Resource Lawyers
commit to spending one to two hours advising less experienced lawyers — in exchange for
lunch.
C. Lawyer to CPA Panel
The OSB and the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSPCA) have a reciprocal
relationship for their professional consulting programs. The OSB's Lawyer to CPA Panel is a
registry of lawyers willing to take calls from CPAs with legal questions. If you have a tax or
accounting question you would like a CPA to address, call the OSPCA's Peer Consulting
Service at (503) 641-7200 (Portland metro area) or 800-255-1470 (elsewhere in Oregon).
III. Acknowledgement
