Health Act Registration
The Health Act 1956 and Regulations made thereunder, the Health (Registration of Premises) Regulations
1966, requires occupiers of premises used for hairdressing, mortuary/funeral parlour, camping grounds,
saleyards and offensive trades to obtain a registration before the activity commences. In order to obtain the
registration, the premises must comply with the standards and requirements set down by the Health Act and
all other relevant legislation.
Funeral Directors
Funeral Directors are required to be registered and inspected under the Health (Burial) Regulations 1946.
Itinerant Trader
An Itinerant Trader includes any person who is not continuously resident in the district for at least six months
and does not own or have a lease over a premise for a period greater than six months and sells any goods,
wares or merchandise. The holder of a Itinerant Traders Licence is required to abide by the Waitomo District
Council’s Public Places Bylaw 2009 and any conditions set in their licence.
Applications must be accompanied with at least 1 character reference.
Registration Fees
Registrations are renewed annually. A renewal notice will be sent to prior to your registration expiring.
Application fees are payable upon renewal.
The registration year is from 1 July to 30 June the following year.
