LANDSCAPING FOR RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION
Yards must be final graded and sodded or seeded completely. The turf must have taken root
over the entire yard and boulevard area. An asbuilt survey reflecting conformance with the
approved grading plan is required.
One (1) tree must be planted within the front yard setback area- outside of drainage and
utility easements. The tree must be of a disease-free species approved by the City (see
opposite page for a list of species). A deciduous tree must measure at least 2 in diameter,
as measured 6 off the ground.
Parking within the front yard shall be
on an improved surface consisting of
concrete, brick pavers or asphalt-
bituminous pavement. The width of
the driveway measured at the curb
cannot exceed 22 (16is preferred).
Should you consider constructing a
retaining wall, please check with the
City to determine whether a permit
will be required.
Trees, plants, shrubs and retaining walls are prohibited in the public right-of way and
drainage and utility easements.
LANDSCAPING MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF RECEIVING A CERTIFICATE OF
OCCUPANCY (C.O), UNLESS THE C.O IS ISSUED BETWEEN NOVEMBER 1 AND APRIL 15, IN
WHICH CASE LANDSCAPING MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF APRIL 15.
Once all landscaping requirements have been satisfied, please call City Hall at (952) 492-2535 to
schedule a landscape inspection. Landscape escrow funds will be released contingent upon a
passing inspection.
