Is This a SMART Goal? NAME _____________________________________
For the purpose of this exercise, we are going to consider a SMART Goal as
being: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. Please review
each of the goal statements below. If it looks like a SMART Goal, then indicate
this by writing a Y below the statement. If it is missing one of our 5 attributes,
then please write a N below the statement. If you indicate a statement is NOT a
SMART Goal, the use an S, M, A, R, and/or T to show what the goal is missing.
(NOTE: A goal statement below may be missing one or more attributes)
1. I will make the varsity football team and start as a linebacker.
2. I will invent a new rocket ship before I finish college at the Milwaukee School of Engineering that is capable
of launching me and my dog into another galaxy to find the aliens that created the Human Species on earth.
3. The Green Bay Packers will win at least 12 games this season and I will watch them win the NFL
Champtionship and then Superbowl 50 (NOTE: The NFL is ditching Roman Numerals for the upcoming
Superbowl 50) in February 2016.
4. Each week, I will save $25 dollars from my weekly paycheck until I graduate from high school so that I have
some spending money when I start college. I will deposit this in a savings account at my bank.
5. I will train my dog, by the end of 2016, to use the toilet and then flush it, so that we don’t have to take him
for walks each time he has to “go”. My goal is to be able to take him out to play, but to never have to pick
up after him.
6. I will work to graduate in the top 20% of my class by continuing to work with my teachers to earn As and no
lower than a B in any classes. I will cooperate and apply to UW-Madison for admission, but will also choose
2 other schools to apply to so that I know I am accepted into a good college.
7. My father will purchase me a car after I get my driver’s license next month so I don’t have to ask for the car
keys. He will pay for my car insurance too.
