Market segmentation is the beginning of effective marketing. When we can take the
mass market (everybody that might buy our product) and break it into
segmentation/smaller groups that can be identified, then we can choose who we want to
promote our product to (target market) and us the marketing mix/4 P’s to make it
happen!
The three phases of market segmentation, targeting
and positioning are linked and are designed to be
executed together and sequentially, as shown in the
following diagram:
