Intent to Establish Residence in Texas
With my signature below, I certify:
1. I am a veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States; and
2. I am eligible under the Post 9/11 GI Bill; and
3. That I am enrolled at Lamar State College – Port Arthur; and
4. I have the intent to establish residency with this letter to Lamar State College – Port
Arthur; and
5. I am aware that this letter is only valid for one calendar year.
Thus, pursuant to Texas Education Code, Section 54.241 (k), I request Lamar State College –
Port Arthur to permit me to pay the tuitions and fees charged to Texas residents without regard
of the length of time I have resided in Texas.

Sec. 54.241 (k): A person is entitled to pay tuition and fees at an institution of higher education at the rates provided for Texas
residents without regard to the length of time the person has resided in this state if the person files with the institution at
which the person intends to register a letter of intent to establish residence in this state and resides in this state while enrolled
in the institution and the person:
(1) is eligible for benefits under the federal Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 (38 U.S.C. Section 3301 et
seq.) or any other federal law authorizing educational benefits for veterans
