The KCC Foundation provides scholarship assistance to
Kellogg Community College students. A variety of Foundation
scholarships are available based on financial need and/or
academic achievement and/or field of study. All scholarship
applications are given equal consideration by a scholarship
committee appointed by the KCC Foundation. Scholarship
committees will make the final determination of scholarship
awards by matching students with specific criteria.
Please submit only one application.
Criteria and Guidelines
• Applicant must be a citizen of the United States or an
eligible non-citizen.
• Applicant with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA will be given
preference. Applicant with less than a 2.5 cumulative
GPA may be considered with a recommendation from an
instructor and/or academic advisor.
• An applicant who has received an associate's degree
or bachelor's degree will not be considered for a
scholarship unless the applicant can demonstrate special
circumstances.
• Scholarship funds will be credited to the student's KCC
financial aid account. Scholarship awards can be used for
KCC tuition, fees, and/or books only. Unused
funds will not be refunded or forwarded to the
following academic year.
• Scholarship funds cannot be used at a different college or
university.
• KCC employees, spouses and dependents are not eligible.
• Scholarships are awarded on a year-to-year basis.
Students must re-apply every year by submitting a new
application with all the required documents.
Scholarship Recipient Responsibilities
• Write a thank you note to the donor of your scholarship.
• Successfully attend classes.
• Maintain a GPA specific to the scholarship criteria.
• Follow the KCC Student Code of Conduct, as specified
in the Student Handbook. Failure to do so may result in
forfeiture of the scholarship.
• Register for no less than the number of credit hours
required for the scholarship.
• Notify the Foundation prior to any change in the number
of credit hours taken.
Application Requirements
1. Submit a completed KCC Foundation application by
March 1, 2018. Answer each question to the best of your
ability.
• Include a copy of your Student Aid Report, if you
completed a FAFSA.
• Include a copy of DD Form 214, if you are a military
veteran.
2. Submit an essay of at least 150 words but no more than
two pages addressing all of the following:
• What college(s) you plan to attend after KCC.
• Why you have chosen your field of study; what
led you to this decision?
• Future career goals; the profession or occupation you
intend to enter.
• Describe your leadership experience and what you
learned from it.
3. a. Attach a high school transcript (if under the age of 25)
and transcripts from all colleges attended, including
KCC.
• Transcripts must be submitted with this scholarship
application, even if you previously submitted them
to the KCC Foundation or any other KCC office.
• All transcripts submitted can be unofficial.
b. Applicants with 24 or more college credits must submit
transcripts from all colleges attended, including KCC.
• Transcripts must be submitted with this scholarship
application, even if you previously submitted them
to the KCC Foundation or any other KCC office.
• All transcripts submitted can be unofficial.
4. Attach a résumé of employment history, education,
school and community service activities, and volunteer
experiences.
5. Enclose two signed current letters of recommendation
from teachers/instructors, counselors/academic advisors,
employers, and/or community members.
Deadline —March 1, 2018 by 5:00
Faxed applications will not be considered. Applications
received or postmarked after this published deadline may
not be considered.
