Students who have not graduated with a high school diploma/GED or who have graduated from
a non-accredited high school may be admitted to Galveston College on the basis of individual
approval. Students who are admitted by individual approval must meet all other general
admission requirements for Galveston College.
Students who are admitted under individual approval and are seeking a technical/workforce
program of study may be eligible for federal financial aid. These students must take the Ability
to Benefit exam to determine eligibility. Additionally, these students must enroll in an adult
basic education (GED/High School Equivalency) program while enrolled at Galveston College.
See the Financial Aid Office for more details.
Students must make the following scores on the Ability to Benefit exam to be considered for
federal financial aid:
Reading Comprehension – 55 Sentence Skills – 60 Arithmetic - 34
All scores must be met during the same testing session
