In-State Correction Form
Revised 5/30/17
The tuition law (C.R.S. 23-7-101 et. Seq.) requires all state-supported colleges and universities in
Colorado to classify each student as either in-state or out-of-state for tuition purposes. This
designation determines the tuition rate you will pay.
Your initial tuition classification was determined by the information provided on your admissions
application. The In-State Correction Form can be completed if you feel the decision was based on
incomplete information. This form must be submitted to the Office of Admissions no later than the
published deadline. Failure to do so will result in non-resident classification for the semester. The
deadline to submit the In-State Correction Form is the earliest drop date for the student’s registered
courses. University published deadlines are listed on the Academic Calendar as well as the
Residency page of the website.
To be eligible for in-state tuition, students and/or their parents must establish a permanent place of
residence in CO and maintain it for at least 12 months preceding the start of classes. Simply having
physical presence in the state is not enough. Individuals must sever legal ties with their former state
and obtain those ties in CO to establish permanent residence in the state. Ties include CO driver’s
license or identification, motor vehicle registration, employment, voter registration or income tax
filing. However, it is important to note that one factor alone is not sufficient.
Please allow 3-5 business days for processing. After reviewing the In-State Correction Form, a
decision will be sent or additional information may be requested through your MSU Denver student
email account.
