INSTRUCTIONS FOR REQUESTING A CERTIFICATION OF
INTERSEGMENTAL GENERAL EDUCATION TRANSFER CURRICULUM (IGETC)
A. The intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) is a program whereby community college
transfer students can take courses that can be used to fulfill lower-division general education requirements in either the
CSU or UC system. Students who complete the General Education Transfer Curriculum are not required to take
additional lower-division general education courses once they transfer to the four-year institution. As a general rule,
IGETC can be certified for California community college transfers who have also completed transfer units at a CSU,
UC or independent college. Please see your counselor for specific details.
B. All coursework applicable to IGETC must be completed and certified prior to transfer in order to be accepted by CSU
or UC. Under special circumstances partial certifications are permitted. Please see your counselor for specific details.
C. Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in each course used for IGETC.
1. Have official transcripts sent to the Office of Admissions and Records at Solano Community College (SCC). If the UC
foreign language requirement was met in High School or through Advanced Placement Exam, we must have an official
copy of your high school transcript or test score report.
2. When you meet with a counselor please have course descriptions available for all courses taken at institutions located
outside of the state of California.
3. Complete the Request for Certification of Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) form.
Submit the form to the Office of Admissions and Records after: (1) you have been accepted at the University you plan to
attend; (2) you are in your final semester at SCC.
4. Submit completed form in person to Admissions & Records or email to email@example.com. Please allow 7-10
business days for processing.
