hasreceivedyourApplicationforNotaryCommission,notarybondandotherrequireddocumenta tionbymail,
theClerk’sOfficewillcontactyoutoconductaZoommeetingtoperformanoathofoffice.Aftertheoathhas
beentaken,theClerk’sOfficewillreturnyourprocessedapplicationwhichyouwillthenberesponsiblefor
finalizingtheprocesswiththeStateofMichigan,OfficeoftheGreatSeal.Pleasereadthefollowinginstr
uctions
carefullyinordertoensuretimelyprocessing.ALLFIELDSMUSTBEFILLEDINANDALLSTEPSMUSTBE

Requirements:
1. YoumustbearesidentofOaklandCountyandbeatleast18yearsofage.
2. Ifyouareanout‐of‐stateresidentandyourprincipalplaceofbusinessisinOaklandCounty,youmay
applywiththeOaklandCountyClerk’sOffice.Youwillneedtoprovideproofofemploymentifyour
addressisnotinOaklandCounty,alongwithproofofyourcurrentresidency.
SuretyBond:
Youmustobtaina$10,000suretybond(notarybond)throughaninsuranceagentorcompanythatprovides
bondinsurance.YourbondMUSTbeissuedinyourname.Thiswillbethesignatureyou use foreachnotaryact
youperform.
Note:Ifyouareanattorney,abondisnotrequired.
1. Onceyoureceiveyourbondfromthebondingcompany, ensure the bond is in your name.
2. Youmustsignthebondas the "Principal" beforemailingittotheClerk’sOffice.Note:there are
generally two signaturesrequired onthebondformandboth must besigned. The second "Principal"
signature is under the "Oath of Office" section. Please also sign in the "Oath of Office" section and
our office will notarize the Oath once we complete the Zoom hearing.
3. TheoriginalbondmustbesubmittedtotheClerk’sOffice–itwillnotbereturnedtoyou.
