The State of New Jersey provides free hunting and fishing licenses, stamps and permits to resident
veterans with a service-connected disability. For the purposes of this program, eligible veterans are
defined as “...any resident of the State who has been honorably discharged or released under honorable
circumstances from active service in any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States and who has
been declared by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, or its successor, to have a service-
connected disability of any degree...”
Disabled veterans may apply for licenses by mail with enclosures. Copies of disability documentation,
proof of residency, and the Disabled Veterans Resident Fishing/Hunting License Application shall be
sent via mail to:

Applicants must provide:
1. Proof of a service-connected disability by producing a letter of certification from the
Veterans Administration or the wallet-sized card from the VA indicating service-
connected disability.
2. Proof of honorable discharge (DD-214 or similar document).
3. Proof of NJ residency for at least six-months, such as a NJ driver license, NJ motor vehicle
registration or NJ voter registration card.
