WORKLOAD
Election
and
Revised
Responsibility
( March 31, 2016)
The tenured faculty in Humanities
(1-4
and
1-5)
have noted
that
the
same people are often tasked
to
serve on
the
DPCs.
This
has
led
to
burnout over
the
years
as
the
number
of
instructors
has
gone up,
thus increasing
the
amount
of
dossiers
that
need review.
To
facilitate balance
of
labor and
to
ensure a
sound policy
for
constituting
the
DPC,
the
2015/16
DPC
Committee
is
recommending
that
the
task
of
review be divided
into
two
5-member sub-committees
to
address: (1) Promotion and Tenure, and
(2)
Assistant Professor
(1-3)
and Instructor Contract Renewal.
Tenured
Full
Professors
(1-5)
may serve on either subcommittee.
Tenured Associate faculty
(1-4)
may only serve
on
the
Assistant Professor and Instructor Contract
Renewal subcommittee.
All eligible tenured Humanities Division Faculty shall
be
included on a spring semester election ballot
to
establish
the
Division Personnel Committee
for
the
upcoming academic year. Division personnel will be
asked
to
choose twelve (12) individuals,
with
a minimum
of
five being
at
the
rank
of
1-5.
The results will
be
given
to
the
faculty
member
with
the highest votes who will serve
as
Convener. The
top
twelve people will
be
convened; these twelve will then decide
the
make-up
of
the
two
sub-
committees and alternates (2)
to
ensure adequate diversity
of
members in each.
The membership
of
the
TPRC
will not
be
impacted by this vote. The
TPRC
will
be
constituted
at
the
VCAA
level. All eligible faculty (those
not
up
for
review)
wi
ll have
their
names sent
to
the
VCAA,
who
will
make decisions
of
the
TPRC
independently
of
the
Division
DPC
vote
.
