Member of the National Field Archery Association and the NJ State Field Archery Association.
Who are the Black Knight Bowbenders? Incorporated in 1960, we are a group of
dedicated archers who enjoy Field Archery, Indoor and Outdoor Target Archery, 3-D shooting and
Bow Hunting with Modern, Recurve and or Traditional equipment.
Outdoor: Our outdoor range sits on nearly 50 pristine wooded acres in nearby Jackson, NJ.
We boast 56 shooting lanes used for both 3-D and NFAA style target shooting. We have custom E-Z
pull target bales that are kind to both your arm and your arrows. The unique rolling terrain of our
property allows us to set up 3-D ranges that are fun and challenging. In addition, we have a 14 target
Traditional Range, a 90-meter Fita Range and a 10 target Practice Range that goes out to 65 yards.
On most Thursday evenings in the summer our outdoor range is open to the public for a small
donation. We have good training equipment and are glad to assist in the instruction of new archers. If
you are young or old, a novice or a pro, a bowhunter or a target shooter, we welcome you and your
family. Our club hosts many major shoots including our now famous “Bigfoot Open” in July and many
3-D, NFAA /SFAA Field, State and Regional Championships.
Indoor: All Black Knight members also have full access to the new 7,500 sq. ft. Horace
Eckman Indoor Archery Complex located in very nearby Jacobstown, NJ. The brand new 50' x 150'
complex has 20 shooting positions, great lighting and cozy radiant heat in the floors.
Here is a brief excerpt from our constitution:
“The purpose of this organization shall be to foster, expand and perpetuate the practice of Field
Archery and the spirit of good fellowship among all archers; to assist in the instruction of new archers
when called upon to do so, especially in the areas of safety and sportsmanship; to maintain a field
course and conduct field tournaments and games in accordance with the rules of the National and/or
State Field Associations; to encourage the use of the bow in hunting all legal game birds and animals,
and; to cooperate with the State and National Associations in securing better hunting privileges and
conditions for bow hunting, and cooperate with all conservation organizations in the conservation of
game.”
Membership: To join the club, complete the application and bring it to our next meeting.
Summer meetings are held at our Outdoor range in Jackson and Winter meetings at the Jackson
VFW, 54 Magnolia Drive, on the first Thursday of the month, at 7 PM. Call one of the numbers below
to be sure of location and time.
Dues: Our annual dues are currently $ 120 plus tax. An initiation fee of $100 plus tax grants
you a 6-month probationary membership during which time you are asked to participate in club
functions, meetings and work parties. There is also a one-time land assessment fee of $100 that is
paid after the probation period when you are voted in as a full member.
