Honor Commission Application

What am I signing up for?
• Responsibilities for Honor Commission Members According to Honor Code Section
2.12:
Coordinating with faculty and other relevant entities in the College regarding their efforts to
support the College’s principles regarding academic integrity; assisting in the orientation of
new students and faculty; participating in Preliminary Conferences and convening Hearing
Boards as needed; maintaining records; and reporting each semester to the College
community about activities in support of these principles and practices and about the
outcomes of Preliminary Conferences, Hearing Boards, and Appeal Boards.
• Time Commitment:
Honor Commission members are expected to attend one-hour meetings every two weeks,
serve on approximately one or two Hearing Boards per semester (Hearing Board numbers
vary by semester) which usually last between three and six hours, and contribute at least one
to two hours over the course of the semester to other Honor Commission events.
Directions:
• To apply for the Honor Commission, please fill out the attached application. Please limit your
responses to less than 200 words per response.
• Lastly, please include a letter from a faculty member recommending you to join the Honor
Commission (if you are a first-year, you may ask a high school teacher to write this recommendation
for you). Please be sure that the recommender understands what the Honor Commission is and what it
does. The recommender should be someone who can speak to your dedication, academic integrity, and
interpersonal communication skills, among any other important attributes.
• Please type your answers into this form, then print it and obtain the required signatures. Submit your
completed application to the Office of Academic Advising (CUB 280).
• Following the timely submission of your application, a member of the Honor Commission Executive
Committee may contact you to schedule a brief, informal meeting to ask several follow up questions.
• Please respond promptly to any e-mail from the Honor Commission.
