Contract. Honors Contract work is in addition to, not an extension of, any regular course assignments
(e.g. merely extending the length of a paper is not acceptable). You must develop the Honors Contract
project in consultation with your professor who must sign this form.

HONORS CONTRACT PROPOSAL
Describe the final project in detail. It should reflect 15-20% more work than ordinarily required for the
course. Examples of final project include: an essay, a research project or experiment, a multimedia report
or website, the documentation of a complex proof, a short film or podcast, etc. Successful projects will
include a research component that requires the use of refereed scholarship, and the correct use of a
discipline-specific citation style.

Create an approximate timetable and due dates for meetings, specific assignments and final project. At
least biweekly meetings with your supervising professor are required. Failure to attend meetings, or
chronic lateness are grounds for the rejection of an Honors Contract.

rocedures for Approval
Honors Contract proposals must be submitted to the Honors Director by the end of the third week of
term.
Proposals will only be approved where registration in an Honors Section or graduation without an
Honors Contract would be impossible.
The honors designation on the student’s transcript will be awarded on successful completion and
approval of the project. An “H” next to the grade will reflect the honors course work.
