Graduate Institute in Liberal Education National Educator’s Grant Application
The Graduate Institute in Liberal Education was founded in 1967 as a summer program intended primarily
for high school teachers. While the size and scope of the Institute have expanded over the years, we seek to
preserve a commitment to the education of teachers as a special part of our mission. As part of this
commitment, St. John’s College offers a special financial aid program for students who are full-time
primary or secondary school teachers. Administrators, curriculum developers, and other educational
professionals are also eligible for this grant. The National Educator’s Grant provides a one-third tuition
grant to pursue either of the college’s graduate programs. Applicants who wish to be considered for the
National Educator’s Grant must complete this form and attach a letter from the principal of their school
verifying their full-time employment for three years prior to enrollment in the Institute.
Note: Applicants that meet the qualifications for this grant are not required to complete the normal
application process for financial aid, but the college encourages all applicants for this grant to complete the
FAFSA in order to be considered for greater financial aid assistance beyond the one-third tuition grant.
