THE FEDERAL PLUS LOAN MASTER PROMISSORY NOTE (MPN)
Before the Montana Guaranteed Student Loan Program (MGSLP) can finalize a credit check to determine your eligibility and
disburse funds, you will need to complete and sign a Federal PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note. The PLUS MPN is designed
for a borrower to use as a multi -year note for one dependent student. Under the PLUS MPN process, the student borrower will
sign a PLUS MPN only once, at the time the parent first borrows for that dependent student. The parent may obtain additional
loans for that same dependent student based on the originally signed MPN, during the same year or in subsequent years, for up
to ten years after the date the parent first signed the PLUS MPN. Generally, as long as the parent borrower, the dependent
student, and the lender do not change, a new PLUS MPN is not required.
You can complete your PLUS MPN online by following the Graduate PLUS Loan MPN link from the financial aid website,
www.msubillings.edu/finaid/Loans.htm
. If you have your Federal PIN, you will be able to electronically sign the promissory note
with that number. You can apply for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov
. If you would prefer to sign a paper note, you can still complete the
MPN online, print it, and mail the signed note to MGSLP. Otherwise, you can request a paper MPN be mailed to you from
MGSLP by calling 1-800-537-7508.

I authorize the MSU-Billings Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, via Great Lakes Education Loan Services, Inc. software, on
behalf of my lender, to perform a pre-approval credit check using the information contained on this application. I understand that
before a final determination of eligibility can be made, I will need to sign a Federal PLUS Loan MPN with MGSLP.
